Opinions and possible Helpful Hints to finish sewing faster
Never stop sewing at the end of the thread. Before you set your quilt or block down, always tread your needle, and take at least one stitch.
Only use your favorite fabrics and your favorite pattern. Don't settle for what others have chosen for you to work on.
Use the 'heap' method of fabric selection - it gets you to the sewing process faster.
Use the very best products you can afford: favorite (good quality) fabrics and thread, needle threader, scissors, ect. The money you spend is worth it.
You make the quilts you want to make, then give them as gifts form your heart and hands! You are not the Sears catalog. (If you don't know what type of quilt they would love, you don't have to make them a quilt. You can buy them a gift like everyone else)
Take classes from as many teachers as you can: to hear their opinions, try their methods. Then you do exactly what you want to do!
There are only five shapes to make up EVERYTHING in a hand applique project: Straight edge, Point, Valley, Inside Curve, Outside Curve.
It is much easier to do hand applique than you imagine!
