InstructionalSelf-doubt and dealing with it
Have you ever feel less than satisfied with a quilt you made or something you created? I am finding that there is a little voice that has been telling me it isn't good enough and at times it is stronger than others. It seems this little voice shows up after I have been very productive and thought I was happy with my work. The self doubt can be a motivator to some and not to others. How many times have you made something and that little voice said it isn't good enough so you did not finish the project? I think we are our own worst enemies!
How many of you have this conversation with yourself? I have been having this struggle for a few months now and it needs to stop! I love looking at all the images we can see of these amazing award wining quilts but at times that little voice says you can't make that, your not good enough... It is time to squash those thoughts!
I want to share with you a few tips I have come up with and I am going to practice this month. Would you like to join me?
- For starters that means accepting the work you are doing right now and know that as with everything in life the more you do it the easier it becomes and the better you will become at it.
- We can not all be experts.
- Remember as we look at other's success do not compare yourself or your work.
- Decide what is most important to you at this point in time and work to make it better.
- Make quilts that make you happy!
- Breath deep and KEEP on creating!
- Go for a walk and spend a bit of time in Nature, it has a way of making everything better!
So let's all get busy. Have a great month.
