I have been thinking about everyone in Houston and the surrounding area. It just breaks my heart that this just keeps going on and on. I can only imagine what it is like for all of those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Mark and I would like to do something so we have decide to donate half of every "You are in our Hearts" Hawaiian Wall Quilt pattern sold from now until midnight Pacific time on August 31st. That is $6.00 from the sale of each pattern will be sent to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Relief in Houston. We all need to do what we can. If you are not interested in a pattern there are many worthy organizations doing wonderful things in the Houston area, Please help where you can!
I will let you know how much we are able to collect and send on Friday!
Thank you for your time today!
Here is the story behind "You are in our Hearts" and why I chose to continue it's good work.
It was September 12, 2001, the day after the tragic events at New York's World Trade Center, the Pentagon in Washington, DC, and a field in Pennsylvania. Nancy and Janice came together, as many of you did, to grieve and to seek a way to begin to heal.
The outcome of that day for us was our quilt You Are In Our Hearts. Here is how we describe this quilt pattern:
"Plumeria was selected for this pattern because it is a fragrant flower popular in leis. A flower which frequently adorns grave sites and temples in tropical areas of the world, its beauty honors our loved ones, our ancestors, and those who have passed before us. Quilters frequently turn to their quilts during times of crisis or pain. If you have chosen this quilt at such a time, it is our hope that it brings comfort and healing."
$6.00 of each pattern purchased between now and 10:00 PM, Pacific Time on August 31, 2017 will be donated to the American Red Cross.
UPDATE: We collected and donated $1,164.00 to the American Red Cross. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT! :-)
