Hawaiian Quilting, 2 Fabric Applique, Lessons and so much more!

Portable Travel Projects

Are you traveling this summer?

I have to admit one of the best things about travel is the fact that I have time to applique! I do not have as much time as I would like when it comes to appliqueing. It is one of my favorite things in the quilting world.

Woodland Lei Hawaiian Wall Quilt

I was lucky enough to fly to and from Wyoming for my nieces high school graduation and I took every spare moment to stitch on my Woodland Lei sample. I am making our Woodland Lei pattern with the Hoffman Supernova Panel. The colors make me smile and are so very bright and happy! One wonderful benefit is that you will not care how long your layovers are or if your flights are late.

Traveling with a Hawaiian quilt or 2 Fabric Applique project takes very little space or accessories. Here are the items I travel with:

  • My quilt top which has been basted and ready to begin the needleturn.
  • Applique needles, I carry several just in case I lose or break one.
  • Thread, Aurifil of course.
  • Small thread scissors.
  • Needle threader.
  • Beam-n-Read, you never know if you will have good light or not.

These items will all fit nicely in a small bag which will fit in your carry-on or in your purse.

So pack your clothes, quilting and prepare for the perfect travel adventure.
